May Favourites!!

A month of assignments, exams, work, packing, and parties have caught up to me and I'm exhausted.
Not long until my travelling adventures start and saying I'm excited is an understatement. I can officially say I have watched The Sapphires 5 times in one week (for an assignment!). I can also quote nearly the whole movie, sigh. Not many favourites this month so I'll just talk about them all done below.

T2 Pumping Pomegranate tea has been a favourite this month. More on the sweat, fruity side but definitely a great evening tea! Perfect hot in winter and iced in summer. Talking about seasons it is officially winter tomorrow *starts crying*. That is in the Southern hemisphere, while the Northern hemisphere enjoys warm weather. Summer I am coming for you!
My Simple Micellar Water had to be in this months favourites. It is a cheaper alternative to Bioderma but does a fantastic job at removing makeup, especially waterproof mascara and eyeliner. I'll admit now that some days this month I have been lazy in my skin care routine and just used this and moisturiser. It leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean.
I have been using my Sportsgirl Pout About It! Lipstick in Dark Angel quite often this month. As we are in colder weather I can whip out them dark lippies. I love this lipstick because it is so versatile. You can wear it matte and opaque, or with a gloss, or dab some on the lips for a light tint.
Hair Clips from Forever 21 have been a saviour the past couple of weeks. When I don't want to tie up my hair avoiding the dreaded hair tie crease, or when the hair is down and annoying, I can clip it all back with these babies. Super cheap and even more convenient.  Another Forever 21 purchase was this cute gold wish bone necklace. Always on the hunt for simple jewellery like this and I know I will get a lot of wear out of it, because I've basically worn it since I got it, except at school!

And that's it!
Hope you had a lovely month and if you are going into winter, well we can do this together.

My Hair Care Routine

I thought I'd share my hair care routine now that I feel like I am happy with it, and boy it's been a long time in the making.

Some info before I get into the products:
1. My hair is combination, usually gets quite oily, occasional dry patches
2. I wash my hair every three days
3. I don't use all these products every time I wash my hair

I use the Redwin's Tea Tree shampoo first for a thorough clean to remove build up, and a fresh new bottle of this stuff baby! I then go in with the Garnier shampoo for a seconds cleanse.
I add a very small amount of the Garnier conditioner into the ends of my hair. I make sure to rinse the shampoo well after each cleanse, for at least 30 seconds. If you don't rinse your hair well the product builds up on your scalp making it dirty, clogging your hair follicles and you end up washing your hair more often.

I use these products less often then the ones above. I use the Joico Hair Treatment Balm about every 3 weeks, to keep my hair healthy and well looked after. I definitely notice a difference in the way my hair looks and feels when I use this product, very luxurious.
I use Head & Shoulders whenever I feel my scalp is dry or I have the dreaded dandruff. Frequent use of this stuff keeps the flakes away and clean hair.

I add a small amount of the CPR smoothing creme into my hair after each wash. It smells amazing, helps with frizzy hair (as the name suggests) and makes it extra smooth. Plus the bottle lasts a long time too!

I usually let my hair air dry but if I am in a rush and need to blow dry it, I use my V05 heat protect spray to keep my hair healthy, and prevent damage caused my heat. I don't often use heat on my hair but when I do this is a must.

When my hair is looking a little dull I'll add a pump of Argan Oil into the ends. I really enjoyed using this on my long hair as it was less healthy and made a huge difference in the shine. My hair looked healthy with this in the ends. Of course now with short hair it is no different, I just don't need to use it as often. I'll have to pick up a new bottle of this, but it lasted a very long time, I think 2 years!

I've been using most of these products for a while now and happy with them. But I'll always be on the hunt for better. Don't forget that these products work well with my hair. I giving you my experience but experiment have a look around and find the right products for you!

Bold

A 'lazy' weekend called for some painting, as it was my first weekend with no homework or assignments due that week (miracle). Although I umpired a couple games of netball on Saturday morning, and went out for dinner with some friends in the evening, the rest of the weekend was pretty chill. Dreaming about my travelling adventures starting in only 12 days now!

And I managed to fit in a nap too. Catching up on some sleep, thank god!

I felt it was necessary to do some painting with bold, bright colours after working on quite a dark social justice painting for school. Let me tell you I was over the Lamp Black's, Burnt Sienna's and Terracotta's after 5 months on that painting. It was time to inject some colour.

I was painting on pre-primed canvas sheets because the step up to a canvas means actual dedication, and that intimidating amount of pressure knowing if you stuff up its not as easy to just chuck away.
And I'll just take this time now to mention the wine coloured paint from Mont Marte. It isn't just a plain old acrylic, it has a pearl kind of finish. Yes sadly I am obsessing over paint...

Of course solid hours of colour mixing, painting and jamming to music require some kind of snack, right?!  And how fitting that my Blueberry yogurt matched my painting.

In the end I finished with two pieces, both of which I am happy with and will be going towards my Duke of Edinburgh. Bright colours and a chilled weekend have me in a good mood ready for Monday in a few hours.

Hungry For Art

About a week ago I went to a small exhibition organised by a local council. It was called Hungry For Art and encouraged art movement in our local area. We went to see two of my sister's photographs in the exhibition. I wasn't expecting much but it was a really lovely evening.
There was high quality artwork, champagne, and other alcohol provided for free along with hot food, which was great on a very chilly autumn evening. Everyone there was passionate about art and had an appreciation for the work. I had a great time looking at all the artworks and listening to the speeches as it was opening night.

I highly recommend you go if you live in or near the City of Ryde, Sydney and enjoy art.
It is on till the 13th of June and there is more info on the website

Here are some photos of the evening:
