The Best of NYFW S/S 16

With New York Fashion Week coming to an end I thought I would do a roundup of my favourite shows and designs. This week was jam-packed with plenty of shows, amazing venues and gorgeous street style.

Tommy Hilfiger's Spring collection left everyone in awe. Taking on a completely new style to his other shows, this year was inspired by the Caribbean and bold, bright colours. There was a main theme of crochet designs and patterns throughout the collection; most noticeably stripes and floral, taking a spin on the timeless classic prints. With Gigi stealing the show in that amazing bikini and the finale with all the girls in the water, made this show one of my favourites.

A few of my favourite pieces from the collection:

There was also a trend of maxi dresses and printed sneakers, a risky move mixing such bold colours and prints together but it works, so much so I might just have to go pick up a pair of patterned sneakers.

Another amazing show was Carolina Herrera. A very feminine, flattering and floaty collection, made up of interesting textures, many pleats and soft fabrics. The outfits were mostly pink, black and white, with a hint of navy. The models looked absolutely gorgeous flaunting minimal makeup and a glowing complexion, with natural waves for hair. Outfits were accompanied with long earrings, sunglasses and strappy heels.

Some other great shows were; Jeremy Scott's mini skirts, bold colours and large hair , Anna Sui's interesting patterns and tropical venue and finally Public School's very monochrome collection, where layering was key.
