See Sydney: Shark Island

As part of my goal to see more of Sydney I headed out the other day with my friend to the city. We had breakfast and decided we would catch a ferry out to Shark Island. We picked up a few items for a picnic lunch, bought our tickets and hopped on the boat.

After a very scenic trip around Sydney Harbour and pass Taronga Zoo, we got off at Shark Island. There aren't really any sharks here (well in the surrounding water), it's just named after the shape of the island. A part from it being very windy we had a lovely time talking, eating our assortment of food which was delicious and exploring the island.

Shark island is quite small and hardly anyone was there, making it very peaceful. If you live in Sydney or coming for a holiday, you might consider visiting this beautiful island for a picnic. The island also boasts small 'beaches', a historic building and many great photo opportunities. Not to mention the amazing city views you get from the island! We could of taken heaps more photos but we decided to get the next ferry to check out the Museum of Contemporary Art (which will be in another post, soon!).

1 Year of Blogging!

** warning this post may be cheesy or corny **

So its been just over a year now since I started this blog, and I tell you what it has been bloody amazing. On the 8th of September 2014 it randomly hit me that I wanted to create a blog. I’m still not quite sure why I wanted to start one so suddenly, but it is one of the best things I have done (corny I know, but I warned you). I’d been watching YouTube videos for a few years and I had become infatuated in blogs and consumed into the world of beauty.

The past year has been full of many posts, some of which make me cringe when I look back, but it is all part of the growing process. And that is exactly what I have done. Apart from looking back at old posts and cringing I have been able to relive a year of my life though images and text. My writing has developed into what I would enjoy reading and more mature, hopefully. And to my delight and probably my sister who does photography, my images have progressed to better quality, I’ve learnt the basic ins and outs of Photoshop and most importantly I love taking them.

I wouldn’t have thought I would enjoy blogging so much from when I started but it has become a part of my life that I am very proud of. When I started my main focus was if I can recall “all things art”, well now its more all things beauty, lifestyle and a little bit of art. Don’t get me wrong I still absolutely love making art and expressing myself, but my blog can be so much more.

I am defiantly looking forward to hopefully many more years of blogging. While I am what some would call ‘technically challenged’ and I’ve spent many, many hours trying to figure out the technological side, I’ve loved every bit of it (maybe not so much html’s).

Thank you to everyone who has supported me in every way, by you just reading my blog means the world to me, so thank you very much. It still amazes me that people all over the world read what I have to share, thank you again.

Here’s to blogging and many great posts to come!

New Beauty Bits

The school term has ended... finally, and I thought I'd treat myself to some new makeup. The little afternoon trip with one of my good friends was made definite when Chemist Warehouse were having a 1/2 price of all cosmetics. I left with some items that I was extremely excited about and a small dint to the savings, oh well. I've had a few days to trail the products for you and nothing but good words from me.

Maybelline The Nudes Palette
First up I had to pick up one of these. I'd seen all the hype and decided to give it a go. Now the colours, Maybelline have done an excellent job at choosing all the right colours. No shades are completely matte, but some are more shimmery than others. A very bronzey palette but there are some light and dark shades in there too. The shades themselves are creamy, very pigmented and last forever on the eye balls, plus very sleek, compact packaging... couldn't be happier really.

Maybelline Master Sculpt Contouring Palette - 01 light medium
Another raved about product in the beauty world and I understand why. For the price it is a fantastic bronzer for contouring because it is matte. Now the highlighter, amazing. Such a great colour that is perfect on the tops or cheekbones. The main reason why I love this compact is that both shades are subtle enough on my complexion for everyday school wear. I'll be getting a lot of use out of this and it is even better with a mirror on the under side.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow - 25 bad to the bronze (cream product)
Oh this bad boy is a winner! I havent tried anything like this before so I cant compare it to anything. It can be used by itself on the eyelid blended into the crease, or worn as a base under eyeshadow. True to its name it lasts forever and yes I have tried it out on my sister and 24 hours after application still looking good (she even slept in it). A great colour too, I'll be picking up the silver shade soon. Nice glass packaging makes it heavy and feel expensive.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - 1 fair
Its been half way around the world I can finally say I have this cult product in my hands. A great friend got her dad to get this for us when he went to the UK, and I love it so much. A full coverage concealer covering basically anything, I love it under my eyes because it is a shade lighter it helps brighten under my eyes, and make me look more awake. Dirt cheap so the packaging isn't great and has started to wear off, but the quality of the concealer rivals high end beauty.

Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Liner
I restocked up on my all time favourite eyeliner, and fell back in love with it. Errh it's just amazing I love it so much! Super black and the thinnest brush for absolute control and precision. I remember using this when I first started wearing liquid eyeliner and as ironic as this is, it helped me master eyeliner. I'd sit in front of my mirror at night and just play with it. Looking forward to a holiday filled with many cat eyes and flicks.

Rimmel Shimmering Maxi Bronzer - 002 sun love
I've saved the best for last, where has this been all my life. Literally this bronzer is on point. The textured powder in the pan and how it looks like the dessert... offt. Then the thin layer of gold shimmer on top.. stop. And lets mention now its bloody huge, so maybe not ideal for travel but who cares, when it makes you look like a bronzed goddess I don't really give a f**k. It's that good.

Honestly I love all these products and it reassures me that price doesn't always equal quality.
