Quite a long post today so let’s get right into it. Coming up
very soon is Valentine’s Day and whether you have a loved one or like me you
will be with friends, have a look below and maybe do something a little special
for someone you love.
Now I know Valentine’s Day isn't everyone’s cup of tea
because love shouldn't be celebrated on just one day and we should take every
one of the 365 days in a year to tell those how much they mean to us. I
understand but I thought this would be a cute idea so I gave it ago.
So today I will be sharing with you a cute gift to give to someone you love. It is just cute themed cupcake and a pretty card.
For the vanilla cupcakes you will need:
200grams of unsalted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup of caster sugar
3 eggs
2 ½ cups of self-raising flour, sifted
½ cup of milk
Line a muffin pan with Valentine's day themed cupcake cases. As you can see I ran out towards then end oppps! Preheat oven to 180C / 160C fan forced or 356 F.
Beat butter, sugar and vanilla extract together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
Beat in each egg one at a time, mixing well in between each egg.
It should look like this after all three eggs have be incorparated.
Measure out half the flour (1 1/4 cups) and add it to the cake mixture. (Don't forget to sift it in)
Add half the milk and mix well. (1/4 cup)
Repeat last two steps with remaining flour and milk.
Spoon batter in lined cupcake pans. Place into oven for around 14-17 minutes. Check your oven regularly so they don't burn.
Once cooked leave in pan for two minutes then transfer onto a wire rack to completely cool.
For the vanilla icing you will need:
200 grams of butter/ margarine
1 1/4 cups of soft icing sugar, sifted
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Pink food colouring (optional)
Sprinkles or items to decorate
Beat butter, icing sugar and extract together until light and fluffy.
Add pink food colouring now if you would like.
Spread the icing generously into cooled cupcakes using a butter knife.
Once all cupcakes are iced its time to decorate!
I added white soft sugar pearls and pink sprinkles, but you can do what ever you fancy!
Cute Valentine's or GALintines Cards
You will need:
Water colour paper, cut into rectangles.
Paint brush
Pink/red water colour paints
Fold rectangles in half to create a card shape.
Add lots of water to the paint to make it a light pink and free hand lots of little curved lines surrounding each other. Keep going and give it a good try to get a gorgeous rose. Add a darker shade of pink to some of the petals (lines) to give it a more realistic and 3D effect.
Super simple and really cute. Write a sweet message inside and send with your delicious homemade cupcakes!
Hope you all have a lovely Valentine's Day what ever you choose to do. I will be eating this delicious cupcakes (and the leftover icing).
