Party Planning - Part 2 (Theme)

Hello Everyone!!

So If you saw my second last post then you would know what this little series is (Party planning) but if you didn't then don't worry it is pretty much just, party planning. I am having a party soon an I decided to share with you all the planning process.

Okay so I probably should have done this post first but oh well. When having a party its fun to have a theme. I choose to have a Great Gatsby themed party. So to get into the mood and full of inspiration I watched Baz Luhrmann's movie adaption of F. Scott Fitzgerald's, The Great Gatsby. I love this movie just because of the fashions, music and the creative way that Luhrmann produced this film. Although some may argue nothing much happened and it was a bit boring, who cares when the sets and actors were on point. This for me is what truly made the film. So in light of this I want my party to be memorable, fun and of course in my budget, because lets be real now no one has millions of dollars to spend on parties except Gatsby himself.

Once I decided on this theme I went looking for inspiration.....

I love Pinterest and I created a board especially dedicated to everything and anything Gatsby/ 1920s.

If want to check it out:

Disclaimer: None of these photos are mine and I do not claim them to be. All rights go to the owner of the original photo. For all links to original posts you can find them on my pinterest board linked above.

I used this board for inspiration, Pin-inspiriation!

These photos gave me great inspiration for food, decorations and DIYs. Having this board really helps when I am stuck for ideas I can always have a look at it, and sometimes I'll just go on it in class when I am bored!

So after all that rambling from me about how much I LOVE Pinterest, the theme is very important and is the spine for your party and everything that you have to plan for it. So have a go creating a board on Pinterest, sketch ideas or even create a mood board- cut out photos and use materials and place on a physical board. Fuel your imagination even if you are not having a party!

LUSH HAUL - Christmas edition

The other day I made a trip to Lush for the Christmas and Halloween limited editions. I only got Christmas stuff for the sake of my budget. I have 9 items to share with you all and while writing this I can smell them all.

If you don't know what Lush is, it is a shop (dah audrey) that sells fresh handmade cosmetics like products for your hair, face, bath, body, makeup, fragrances etc. Their products are handmade using premium fresh produce, that does not use animal cruelty, they support charities, fight animal testing and their products are all packaged in recyclable materials.

For more information visit:
https://www.lush.com.au/shop/info/70/

Everything I got:

Drummers Drumming Reusable Bubble Bar

This is a bubble bar but on a stick so you can run it under the tap to create big bubbles and swirl it around your bath tub. It smells like strawberries and cream. Make sure to leave this out to dry after use so it can dry out ready for next time.

Candy Mountain Bubble Bar

This is also a bubble bar, but you crumble it under water to create bubbles and mountains of sweet scents. But I'm warning you now this is very sweet!

Christmas Eve Bubble Bar

This soft soothing scent will calm you down after a long day. It has Ylang Ylang essential oil to give it an elegant perfume.

Rockstar Soap

This scent is very similar to Candy Mountain but in the form of soap!

Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb

Another calming scent but this time it is a bath bomb! You pop the whole thing in the water and watch it fizz away. This is a cool bath bomb as the little circles of color turn your bath into a rainbow with relaxing oils to nourish your skin.

Twilight Bath Bomb

This is the same scent as the Luxury Lush Pud Bath Bomb and is also very relaxing and soothing, has a hint of lavender.

Melting Snowman Bath Melt

Smells like what Christmas would smell like. Comforting spice scents will fill your bath tub as you watch this little snowman melt away. It will leave your skin feeling super smooth.

Butterbear Bath Bomb

If you like the Butterball Bath Bomb then you will love this cute little bear. With the same vanilla scent and nourishing cocoa butter, it will protect your skin and leave your bath silky smooth.

Yog Nog Soap

This has to be my favorite. It smells absolutely amazing and I literally can't stop smelling it. Soya yogurt and festive spices + cocoa powder dusted on top this creamy fudge soap is perfect for those cosy Christmas nights. It is also really great for your skin!

So that's everything I got and I hope you enjoyed!!!

Also an early Merry Christmas from me to you.

Party Planning - Part 1 (intro and invitations)

Hello everyone and welcome November, which just happens to be my birthday month!

As my birthday is coming up and I am having a smallish party to celebrate I thought I would do a mini series on party planning - well how I am planning my party.

So first I had to decide on a few things:

Theme: for me this is the most important and I chose to have a Great Gatsby themed party. I love everything about the 1920's so why not have my party this theme. The theme is important for me as it creates the spine for everything you need to figure out for a memorable party + it creates a talking point and lots of fun to dress up!

Invitations: obviously to send to people and be creative. Design your own like I did in my theme, or buy some! This brings me to my next point.

Who will be coming: this is important for you to know what to cater for. I have around 16 people invited but it is a busy time of year.

Food, cake and drinks: of course this is a must. What way to make a party better than food! Something everyone loves and it is so fun to make food and drink in the theme of the party. Everyone will be waiting for it so get your chef hat on and impress!

Venue: where are you going to have your party?

Decorations: set the scene and atmosphere and go all out. Work with the budget that you have. You could of course hire or buy decorations but use your creative side and DIY it! I will be DIYing it so stay tuned. People will notice the effort that you put into everything.

Music: add some fun to the party with music. Get everyone on there feet dancing and lucky for me this was pretty much all they did at Gatsby's parties. I will be making a playlist of songs and one I can't forget will be Lana del Ray - A Little Party Never Killed Nobody.

What will I wear, hair and makeup: what will you wear? Obviously in the theme so have fun with clothes, accessories, hair and makeup.

Games: for if you want to make the night even funnier.

Party favors: this is optional and you don't have to go all out. I recently went to a party and the favors were homemade rocky road, really simple but it was absolutely delicious.

So these are just the main things I need to take into considerations when planning a party and I know this post is already long but today is part 1 which is INVITATIONS!!

I had so much fun (and also a little frustration) making these invitations. Starting with my Gatsby theme I designed a two invitations as I did not want to buy any. I made one and I didn't love it so I made a completely different one. I printed both out and stuck them in my planning book ( I know how lame does this sound). Pondered on it for okay lets be real a few weeks. I started planning early haha. In the end I went with the first one but I made a lot of changes. It didn't turn out how I first imaged it and it doesn't look like all the pinterest and google images of Gatsby invitations, but I know I put in a lot of effort for the most untechnological person I am and created a simple but sophisticated invitation. I printed them onto high gloss photo paper, cut them out and placed them in my envelopes.

For the envelopes I just used plain white ones and used water color to paint on the guests names and a message on the back. The message says - from Gatsby Himself x.
I've handed the invitation out already and everyone loved them!

Hope this post helped and inspired you, even if you are not having a party soon!
I love parties, DIY and organisation so I am having a lot of fun with this series and excited for my party.
