Maybelline Fit Me - Matte + Poreless Foundation Review

Staying along the makeup theme of my past couple of posts I thought I'd review the new matte and poreless foundation by Maybelline. The original one is dewy and smooth and to be honest I'm not a fan. A quite enjoy many Maybelline products and rave about them to friends. Some I'll use over high end products and there is little comparison in quality.

This foundation has definitely impressed me.

First up coverage: On first application, a pea sized amount (or slightly morer) will give you medium coverage. I like to add a little more onto my cheeks to cover redness. It can be built up to full coverage without looking of feeling heavy, in fact I can hardly feel it when it’s on my face.

Finish: I’ve noticed that after I use powder to set the foundation it clings to the little hairs on my face but about 30 minutes later it’s hardly noticeable, and the finish is beautiful. It gives a flawless finish while still looking healthy. It leaves a subtle glow on the face and truly makes your skin radiant, natural still covering everything you want it too.

Shades: I wear shade 112 natural ivory and it is a pretty good match to my face and neck. Unfortunately they only offer 6 shades available in Australia but the US and other countries sell the full 12 original shades.

Staying power: I’m very impressed with how long this stays on my face. I apply it at 7am go to school and when I get home at 4pm it’s still looking great. So after 9 hours it has faded a little bit, and it has started to cling around my blemishes ever so slightly. But my skin is still looking healthy and wonderful

Overall: I think Maybelline has done a great job and I can’t wait to try out more of their Fit me range. The price is quite good around AUS$20, making this a cheaper alternative for high end foundations. I would compare this to my MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NW13. I’ve been wearing this almost daily for the past couple of weeks and couldn’t be happier.

Top Winter Lip Picks

As we slowly move into warmer weather and the northern hemisphere are bound for the colder months, I thought I would end this Winter with a lipstick post. I've picked out my top eight winter shades, (to be honest I wear them all year round) but for the sake of the post I've chosen the deep reds plums, cherries...

Rimmel Show Off Lip Velvet - 307 Meteoric Mat
I'm all about matte lipstick and liquid lipsticks right now. This beauty is super pigmented, glides on like a dream and lasts well. It is a plum colour with red undertones. Not too dark but definitely a statement lip! Great dofur applicator for precise application and nice packaging.

Mac Lustre Lipstick - Capricious
Beautiful sheer formula makes this shade easy to wear during the day and night. Lasts pretty well considering it is not matte. I'd say it's mauve with a slight brown undertone. Smells good and buttery on the lips.

Rimmel Kate Moss - 107
Definitely a popular shade, a dark cherry colour with a semi-gloss finish. It lasts extremely well, up to 6-7 hours without touch ups, drinking and eating and it still looks great! Another bold lip colour and it smells absolutely amazing.

Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream - NY-CEE
A bright red colour, that smells like blueberry bubblegum. I would definitely use a lip liner before hand just because it is very bright, highly pigmented and has a dofur. Once it drys matte it ain't going anywhere, so plan to wear this for a while.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream - Monte Carlo
Another liquid lipstick but this one is a crimson red colour. Pigmented but not as much as the other two liquid lipsticks. Still a great colour, sleek packaging and very affordable.

Rimmel Kate Moss - 30
Quite similar to 107, but this lipstick is a bit more 'purpely'. They have the same semi-gloss finish and staying power. If you are a lip freak like me then by all means have both and enjoy them, but if you are just experimenting with lip colours I'd go for 107 over 30 (but it's close!)

Sportsgirl Pout About it! - Dark Angel
The darkest shade of them all is this beauty by Sportsgirl. A really dark plum colour, it's matte finish makes the formula a little drying but with lip balm underneath there's no problem. Be careful with dark purple shades because they can make you teeth appear slightly more yellow, but don't let that put you off. This was one of my first dark lipsticks and still a favourite, I can't recommend Sportsgirl lipsticks enough!

Wet n Wild - Just Garnet
Suuuper afforable and a gorgeous colour, what a score! This lipstick is a mixture of deep red, plums and purple, slightly duo-chrome but more of a pearly finish. Very pigmented and lasts pretty well.

Calligraphy and FOUND

Recently I finally opened my calligraphy pen and gave it a go.

I guess today's post is just about trying new things and making the most of your time. Pretty deep huh but it just hit me that all this 'stuff' that I have hardly gets used. I thought it's either going to stay in the cupboard for another couple of years, or I make some free time, get it out, listen to some music and experiment.

With school getting busy again I think it will be good to have time to relax and do what I love, which is art. For now this means less time on social media and more time spent enjoying these items and experiences.
Or is it really just 'stuff' that we don't need cluttering our lives?

The second part to this post is a little exhibition I went to in the city the other day, all about materials and how they are perceived. Lovely night out enjoying what my city has to offer.

Staying on the lines of trying new things, we had Brazilian for dinner which was amazing.

Weekend Post

It's literally been ages since I did a weekend post and even though it's Wednesday and it's technically not the weekend (actually not even close!) I thought it was appropriate to have a little ramble.

Saturday gave me a little sleep in, before heading off to umpire my last netball game for the season. I also got my ERNA badge (for netball). The rest of the afternoon consisted of chores and a pampering session was in order. It was my friends birthday and she was having a big party for her sweet 16th. We all got dressed up and had a lovely time, by the fire on a toasty winter's evening.

Sunday was another lovely sleep in and the rest of the day was spent with my mother and sister over at the Sydney Olympic Park for the Netball World Championship. We watched three games and sadly Australia lost to New Zealand, but New Zealand played well and deserved the win. A great atmosphere and a lovely finish to the weekend was 'spag bowl' for dinner.

Wishing it was the weekend again right now, only two days to go! Have a lovely rest of your day/night.

Singapore.

Singapore, the last part of the family holiday.

Completely different to Malaysia, it was a bit of a culture shock from Penang. But truly Singapore was lovely. We happened to be staying right in the middle of the city and during the practice festivities for Singapore's 50th Birthday. This post goes up on Singapore actual 50th, so Happy Birthday Singapore!

We only had a short stay, but managed to see a lot. We visited countless malls, Marina Bay Sands, Raffles, Gardens by the Bay, Chinatown, Little India, and much much more. The city was so clean, modern and an amazing underground train system. Maybe Sydney should get some tips...
I think my favourite part was the light show at the Gardens by the Bay, a must see!
