So today is day 1 of the 30 day art challenge. Now I'm going to be honest and say "draw whats on a table", well nothing sprung to mind although I just had dinner, and I didn't want to draw a plate and tea cup. But I attempted it, and lets just say that dodgy water color and a quick 2 minute sketch on my bed didn't turn out well! So scrap that and I guess that what art is all about. Learning from your mistakes and making art that you are passionate about, not just you dinner! (unless it was your favorite meal and you have time to go into detail). And for me I want this challenge to help me take a couple minutes out from each day to relax and do what I love doing.
I took my challenge to Pinterest where I found a picture that I have seen.... A lot!
Now I don't know where this photo is from originally and I know it's not great quality but I just love the lemons. I played my favorite music and quickly sketched this photo. Because I didn't have a great deal of time and I was using lead pencil (with just a hint of color), I decided to keep the shading 'on a low?' What I'm trying to say is that for dark areas i kept it soft and light, and for white and bright areas I barely touched the page. Try practicing first if you are knew. Use the pencil in different ways to create different tones, textures, patterns and also try smudging the pencil to cover a bigger area.
I don't know if you can see the hint of color and the paper was wet from the last attempt so it is crinkled. Have a go like me, and is there anything you who like me to post after October? Feel absolutely free to leave comments down below!
See you again tomorrow and I'm pretty excited for challenge day 2! I am going up to the country to my grandparent's farm and (arrr) my uncle's dogs had puppies. 7 of them and they are blue cattle dogs and I cant wait to draw them and I'll add in some photos of them, can't wait sooo excited! Stay tuned.
Have a lovely day!!
