November Favourites

Once again another month has rolled around before our eyes, and even though I've been a little slow on the blog front this month, I didn't want to miss a favourites. Plus November is my favourite month so...

This month was as intense as it was exciting and eventful. The beginning of the month was packed full of exams and later on held many birthdays, including my own, parties and other exciting events and adventures. I can't wait for school to finish in the next couple of days, so I can focus on blogging and new things!

Onto a few things I've been enjoying:

Maybelline Brow Drama - Brow Gel

I've really been enjoying using this for a while now, especially as it is getting hotter by the day. It really sets my brows down, and because it is tinted it also works to make my brows look less in your face once I've filled them in.

Simple Triple Action Face Wash

Another product I have been using for a while now and if you've seen my empties post recently, you'd know I've been loving this for a few reasons. It saves time because it removes my makeup and deep cleans my skin at the same time, plus it lightly exfoliates your skin. It's worked to really clear up my skin and leave it feeling fresh.

Maybelline The Nudes Eyeshadow Palette

This is such a great palette for the price, I think it's around $20 Australian. It has a wide range of colours, with six shimmery and six matte. As the name would suggest they are all nudes but my favourite colour would have to be the shimmery gold shade. The shadows themselves are pretty pigmented and last for a while too. I'm a big fan of Maybelline eye products so I was happy this didn't disappoint.

Revlon Lipstick - Rose & Shine

I'm quite in love with this lipstick at the moment. It has been the perfect shade to wear to many events because it isn't bright and dramatic. It's lovely sheer pink colour is a perfect little touch to my makeup for this time of the year, as I'm not ready to pull out the bright reds just yet, maybe a little closer to Christmas.

Essense Eyeshadow in 08 Apricotta

Stop what you are doing, well maybe till after this post because you need this in your life! It was so bloody cheap and packaged as an eyeshadow, but omg this makes for the perfect highlighter. It is simply amazing. So pigmented and such a beautiful colour, from a friend's recommendation to me, and now onto you, have fun!

Hope you are having a wonderful day, and see you soon with some festive posts

Product Empties and Review

Over the past month or two I've been hoarding my empty products for a little review, in a bag tucked under my desk. It's been weird stashing away used up bottles and such, and I feel like I may have grown some sentimental value towards them because I've had them for so long.

I'll give a little review on each product and my thoughts.

Shampoos and Conditioners:

Herbal Essences Drama Clean Shampoo: I haven't used this in a while but I have been through multiple bottles of this in the past. It works well for a deep clean, but since finding a better shampoo to suit my short hair, I haven't picked this up again.
Herbal Essences Drama Clean Conditioner: The same for the conditioner, it is nice, cheap and works, but I have found a better conditioner for my hair.
Garnier Fructis Oily Roots, Dry Ends Shampoo: My new favourite because it targets both my problems. As the name would suggest, oily roots and dry ends. My ends aren't terribly dry but it has helped with prolonging the days in which I have to wash my hair. Ever since I cut a lot of my hair off, it was getting greasier quicker, so annoying, but this has helped.
Garnier Fructis Oily Roots, Dry Ends Conditioner: I love this conditioner too, it smells great and does a good job leaving my hair soft but not weighed down.
Redwin Tea Tree Shampoo: I tend to mix up my shampoos often so my hair doesn't get used to the same product, and I love to use this shampoo to strip my hair from all the build-up. Smells very fresh and clean, I've been through a few bottles of this and onto my next one!

Moisturizers:

Simple Kind To Skin Replenishing Moisturizer: I will probably never stop using this stuff, it is just great. I use it most nights as a good moisturizer if I don't need a rich, strong moisturizer. I use it in the mornings and under makeup. This stuff is in my bathroom, bedroom and everywhere else, couldn't live without it.
Sephora Head To Toe Hydrator: Another holy grail item in my skincare. You can literally used this everywhere! I've used it in my hair when it was long and in bad condition. Most of the time I use this on my legs and thank god Sephora opened up it's first store in Sydney, because I don't know what I would do without it.
Clean & Clear Moisturizer: I don't use this anymore, one bottle was enough. It's pretty ordinary and didn't do much for me. But for a cheap, light moisturizer this one passes up well.
Blush by ModelsPrefer Body Lotion: This was okay, but just that. The scent was nice but an mediocre body lotion.

Cleansers:

Simple Triple Action Face Wash: I am in love with this stuff. Just finished up my first bottle and it has changed my skin, nearly completely cleared it up. It has a gentle exfoliant in it and just works. I'm starting to really like this brand and I will be trying more of their stuff in the future. I've already repurchased and started using a new bottle of this cleanser.
Simple Micellar Cleansing Water: This is great at removing eye makeup or stubborn lipstick, maybe even on those lazy nights when washing your face seems all just too hard! It is great around your eyes because it doesn't sting or hurt if it gets in your eye. Removes makeup like a dream, this miracle product is literally disguised as water, who would have thought it was this amazing. A game changer in my skin care routine and onto my next bottle!
Clean & Clear oil-control toner: I stopped using this for a while and noticed my skin was more oily than before. So it has definitely helped reduce redness on my cheeks and made my skin less oily.

Body Wash:

One of the most interesting things in this skincare empties would be body washes. I go through countless bottles and bar of soaps every month. Here are two I've kept:

Lush Hot Toddy Shower Gel: The smell would make anyone excited for Christmas. It is spicy and warm and makes you want to snuggle up in blankets and watch netflix alongside a hot chocolate, except that it's summer in Australia, right? I can't wait to get a hold of the full size version at a Lush store before the limited editions sell out.
Sephora Mango Creamy Body Wash: I love mangos, the smell, the taste, so why not in body wash form hey! It was a delight to use, and on my list to pick up again from Sephora. In the mean time I have a few other scents stored away in my cupboard from their range, ready to use.

Miscellaneous:

Lucas Papaw Ointment: This is a staple for every Australian and for a good reason too. It is great as a lip balm, and for dry cracked skin like heels and elbows. It also works wonders around your nose after a cold, sunburns etc. It really is the perfect ointment for anything
Sephora Honey Sleeping Mask: This range is new to Sephora's own brand. After talking to the lady in the store she recommended I try the honey mask to help replenish my skin for a nice glow. For a good price I got three solid uses out of this. It is a combination of a gel and cream, and you apply it all over your face just before bed. I have to say though as nice as it smelt and felt on my face, I don't think it did much. My skin felt hydrated in the morning but no miracle to the look of my skin.

A beauty empties should be coming soon, so stay tuned!

TUNES - Summer Playlist

Hello all, I'm back after a break, refreshed and ready to keep blogging. Exams are over and Christmas and summer is coming up, unless of coarse you are from the northern hemisphere. Either way I have created a music play list of all the songs I have been loving at the moment, and will continue to listen to through out summer.

I hope you enjoy the play list if you decide to check it out, and maybe find some knew songs, who knows! Enjoy the rest of the week, and look forward to much more from me soon.

Taking a break...

So as the title of this post would suggest, I have decided to take a short break on blogging. It will only be for a few weeks while school gets really busy with exams and just in general a busy period. This year has gone by really quickly and December is fast approaching us. These months are the most hectic in my life and probably for most of you guys too.

Because of this I have been doing some thinking over the past few weeks and decided it was best to just take a break, before everything gets really busy. So for a few weeks there won't be much on here, maybe the odd post but not my usual every three days. I guess this decision was made because you could say my 'creative juices' weren't flowing. I love blogging and that hasn't changed, but the last couple of months have been a matter of "what blog post can I get up tonight" and when a post was due I wouldn't be ready and have to do something quick. That's not want I want this blog to be. I want to fill this space with stuff I love talking about and not having to worry so much about a schedule, basically blogging as a hobby, not a chore.

But don't worry over the net couple of weeks I'll be planning some great posts and a little bit of Christmas festivity, sorry if I'm a bit early I just love Christmas time. I look forward to a bit of a blog refresh and starting it again as a hobby and something I love doing. Hope you are all having a lovely week!

Small ways to decorate for Halloween

With one of my favourite times of the year coming up, Halloween, I thought I'd do a quick post on the simple things I do to decorate for Halloween. I think Australia is slowly becoming better at celebrating Halloween (about time), which makes this time of year even better!

Most of these I've made previously but I'll do my best to explain how I made them below.

Halloween Banner
Last year I made this banner for inside the house. It was really simple, I found some images online of different colours. I added them into a diamond shaped template, added text on one half of the diamond, and printed them on normal paper. After cutting them out, I folded them in half and glued them down to a long piece of twine (or string of your choice).

There you go a super simple banner that looks cute and costs as much as printing.

Bat Lighting
A creative way to add some Halloween festivity to your room. This would be great for little kids.
Simply cut out bats shapes onto black cardboard, and attach them to a lamp with a bit of bluetack. Turn the lamp on and you have yourself a spooky light!

Potion Bottle
Another simple DIY, you will need; a glass jar, label (template here), scissors, glue and liquid of your choice.

1. Cut up labels from the printed template.

2. Gather labels, scissors, glue and your jar/bottle

3. Stick the labels on the jar, add liquid and viola!
(I had to colour in the lid, to make it look a little old)

Halloween Lights
Something I always like to do on Halloween is to use lights. I got these pumpkin lights and wrapped them around the stairs to the front door. They add a nice touch, especially if you don't want to go pull out decorating.

Your Front Door
To add some more Halloween spice I add a few printouts and a skeleton to the front door. It may not look super realistic, but it's the thought that counts.

Graveyard
Last up is a DIY Graveyard/Tombstone. I made these two years ago and it only took a few hours. After tracing a tombstone shape onto some cardboard, I cut it out with a stanley knife. I mixed black and white acrylic paint and sponged it onto the cardboard. I did a few layers of this to build up the opacity. After it dried I added some moss to add an aged effect and you're done!

Hope you enjoyed these simple ideas to decorate for Halloween this year!

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation Review

A quick beauty review today on a new favourite foundation.
This is the Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation.

A few things:

Medium coverage but buildable, and definitely doesn't look or feel heavy on the skin.
Leaves a dewy finish for a nice healthy glow.
It is a great colour match for my skin and doesn't oxidise in the sun (leave an orange like complexion)
Glass pakaging makes it feel expensive, but maybe not the best for travel.
The foundations itself has SPF 18 meaning it keeps your skin safe from harmful UV rays and you don't have to wear sunscreen underneath.
Lasts for a really long time. I often wear this too school and it doesn't fade all day and still looks great when I get home. I think the longest I've had it on for was 14 hours and it still looked great after a super long day!

Like I said before I've been loving this foundation just because it is so easy, I don't need much concealer (only under eyes), it has a good amount of SPF and I don't need to worry about it fading during the day. The only down side to this product is the smell, which is quite like sunscreen but I guess that's because it is a foundation and sunscreen in one.

The Best Geometric DIY on Pinterest

Today I thought I would gather my favourite geometric DIYs from Pinterest. I have been seeing many creative ways to decorate with this new-ish trend. Here are my favourite and all websites links are below.

First up is a DIY paper weight/ decoration. Super easy to make and a cool way to add an interesting touch to a desk or shelf. What's even better is you can fit it into any theme you have by changing up the paper.

This isn't technically a DIY but I had to add it in because how cute are they. Add a little tea light or a small plant and you have yourself a unique table decoration for inside or out.

Adding some spice to a plain mirror like this one, will turn a plank space into one filled with creativity and colour.

Now for a simplistic pendant light. I absolutely love the gold accent!

I'm in love with these super bright decorations and they are unbelievably easy to make. Definitely a must to on my list!

Last but not least, another planter; this time in a more natural material. A creative idea and the pop of colour gives it that geometric vibe, that we're all obsessed with.

Are you hoping on this geometric trend?!
